Robert "Gunny" Germano

Robert “Gunny” Germano is the owner and Chief Pit Master of
American Smokehouse BBQ at Trout River Food Park. With more than a decade of hands-on BBQ experience — and 18 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps — Gunny brings the same attention to detail, discipline, and pride he learned in the Corps to the pit.

Trained under world champion Myron Mixon at his renowned BBQ
school in Georgia, Gunny specializes in brisket, baby back ribs, and
traditional North Carolina whole hog barbecue, smoked low and slow on a Myron Mixon water smoker. His style is rooted in Southern tradition, drawing from many different styles, cooking techniques, and regional specialties.
